Packers’ 17-Game Starter Arrested On Gun Charges (Report)

The Green Bay Packers are just a few weeks removed from their devastating season ending loss to the Chicago Bears.  While the off-season waits for no team, it would seem Green Bay’s is starting off with a shocking arrest.

According to Kyle Schnitzer, Larry Celona, David DeTurris and Anna Young of The New York Post:

Green Bay Packers player Rasheed Walker was arrested at LaGuardia Airport Friday morning after he tried to check a bag that contained a handgun and ammunition, prosecutors said.

The 25-year-old offensive lineman was taken into custody just before 11 a.m. after telling a Delta Air Lines employee that his luggage contained a locked box holding his 9mm Glock pistol, according to a criminal complaint.

Port Authority police were alerted and responded to Terminal C, where they searched his bag and found the firearm and 36 rounds of ammo secured in the locked case.

His attorney, Arthur Aidala, told The Post that the firearm was legally licensed in Wisconsin, where Walker plays football.

Aidala said the NFL player didn’t realize he couldn’t travel with the gun in New York.

“It was in a locked box and he disclosed it to the people at the airport,” Aidala explained.

“He told a person from Delta he was traveling with a firearm. He mistakenly thought because he had a licensed firearm and it was in a locked box that he was able to travel with it. We are confident the case will be dismissed.”

The seventh round draft pick appeared in Queens County Criminal Court on the gun charge and was released on his own recognizance.

He is due back in court on March 19.

Rasheed Walker’s Path To Green Bay

Walker was selected in the 7th round (No. 249 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers, a late-round steal given his college pedigree. He signed a four-year rookie contract.

  • 2022 (Rookie Season): Appeared in one game as a reserve, focusing on development behind starters. Spent much of the year on the practice squad or inactive list as the Packers went 8-9 and missed the playoffs.
  • 2023 (Second Year): Broke out as a starter, appearing in 17 games (started 15). Helped stabilize the line during Jordan Love’s first full season as QB.
  • 2024 (Third Year): Started all 17 regular-season games, solidifying his role as a key protector.  Contributed a high level to Green Bay’s 9-8 record and another playoff appearance. Earned recognition as a rising star on the line.
  • 2025 (Fourth Year): started 15 games, appeared in 17 games.  Helped Green Bay to a 9-7-1 record and a playoff berth.

Overall, Walker has transitioned from a late-round pick to a dependable starter, with 52 career games (48 starts) through 2025. His development has been key to Green Bay’s offensive line stability, and at 25 years old, his best years may still be ahead.
