The US – Israel war with Iran, which lasted just over a month before a two week pause, has already did a massive damage to various sectors across the globe besides loss of lives on either sides. So, all eyes are on the ongoing peace talks between USA and Iran in Pakistan.
In what could be a bad news not just to the countries in conflict but to many other nations all over the world, the proposed deal between USA and Iran fell apart after the 21 hour negotiations headed by Vice President JD Vance did not see a positive outcome. Soon after the meeting, he announced that Iran refused to accept the terms and conditions put forward by USA.
Reportedly, USA sought an affirmative and long term commitment that Iran will not seek a nuclear weapon or try to develop one in the coming years. Also, another key topic of discussion is the reopening of the crucial marine chokepoint, Strait of Hormuz, which has been blocked by Iran, leading many countries gasping for oil and natural gas.
Vance stated that it is now up to Iran to accept or not the final and the best deal offered by USA and further hinted that the next move rests with the outcome of their final response. Meanwhile, Trump has claimed that regardless of the outcome of this high-stakes negotiations, USA has already achieved military success against Iran.
In response, Iran’s foreign minister said that the USA should stop seeking excessive demands and unlawful requests. With no headway in the talks, JD Vance is said to be returning to USA, leaving the ceasefire in limbo.
As it is clear that the peace talks yielded no positive results, it is unlikely that the ceasefire will continue any further and non-opening of Strait of Hormuz might once again thwart the global supplies. How the USA-Israel administration react after the failed talks might decide the fate of this war.
If the middle East war resumes, it might lead to more serious consequences as both sides might engage in a brutal military confrontation this time than earlier.
