Notably, Woodruff’s fastball was significantly below where it should be, averaging just 85 miles per hour in ten pitches. On average, his fastball usually hovers around 92.
The Brewers have not announced anything as to why Woodruff was removed, but the worst is feared. He missed significant time in 2025 with a plethora of different injuries, including his shoulder, ankle, and elbow.
Woodruff made six starts for the Brewers in 2026, entering today. He had a 3.60 earned run average in 30 innings pitched, recording 25 strikeouts.
Entering Thursday, the Milwaukee Brewers had a 15-14 record, 3.5 games behind the Cincinnati Reds, who lead the National League Central. Every team in the division has a record above .500.
