MİLLİYET.COM.TR / In a last-minute statement from the US Central Command (CENTCOM), it was reported that drones and control command centers in the Iranian city of Goruk and Kashm Island were struck.
“The measured and planned strikes were carried out on Saturday and Sunday in response to Iran’s aggressive actions, including the downing of a US MQ-1 drone operating in international waters,” the statement said.
RETALIATION BY THE REVOLUTIONARY GUARDS
On the other hand, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards announced that they destroyed the air base that the US claimed to have used in its attack on a telecommunication tower on Sirik Island in Hormuzgan province. The base in question is reportedly located in Kuwait.
‘TOUGHER RESPONSE WILL BE GIVEN’
The statement announced that the operation was successfully completed and that a comprehensive retaliation was carried out against all previously identified targets. The Revolutionary Guards also said that if a similar attack were to be repeated, there would be a “completely different and harsher response” against the United States, and that Washington bears full responsibility.
SIRENS SOUND IN KUWAIT
On the other hand, the Kuwaiti army announced that they intervened with air defense systems against missile and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks against the country. Kuwait’s official news agency KUNA reported that sirens were heard in the country.

US President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social account, “Iran really wants to make a deal, and it will be a good deal for the United States and for those who stand with us. But don’t those ‘dumbocrats’ (Democrats) and some seemingly unpatriotic Republicans understand this: It’s MUCH harder for me to do my job properly and conduct negotiations when the political hitmen are constantly, in unprecedented tones, nagging me to ‘go faster, go slower, go to war, don’t go to war’ and so on. Sit back and relax; everything will be beautiful in the end, as it always is.”
WHAT HAPPENED?
Following a two-week temporary ceasefire on April 8, Tehran and Washington held talks in Pakistan on April 11 for a permanent ceasefire in the war that began with US-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28. The talks, which lasted for about 21 hours, yielded no results.
Efforts to hold a second round of talks mediated by Pakistan were also unsuccessful due to the disagreements between the parties, especially the naval blockade imposed by the US on Iran.
US President Trump announced that they extended the ceasefire. There was no statement from the Iranian side regarding Trump’s unilateral decision to extend the ceasefire.
