Quarterfinal: Spain vs Belgium
Time/TV: 3:00 PM ET on Fox at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas
Why watch: Spain is in search of its second World Cup title and appears to be among the favorites. Their progress this far is made even more impressive by the fact that Lamine Yamal has yet to find his best form. Now that the competition is improving, La Roja’s fate will rely on the teenage phenom figuring out how to make more of an impact on matches. Meanwhile, Rudy Garcia is pulling all the right strings for Belgium with a rotating lineup getting the job done thus far. This one should provide us with some goals and memorable moments.
Why it could disappoint: Belgium disappointed to start the tournament and then did enough to get to this stage. Going up against Spain is a massive jump in opposition. It won’t take long for us to tell if the Red Devils are in over their heads or able to hang with the European champs. If the former is true, it could be a one-sided and forgettable match. Here’s to hoping their recent success wasn’t a fluke and we get a great matchup.
