Record snowfall slams parts of Russia. See photos.
Jan. 21, 2026, 11:44 a.m. ET Parts of Russia were buried under the heaviest snowfall in decades. Russia’s Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula received over 6.5 feet of snow in the first half of January after receiving around 12 feet of snow in December, according to Reuters. Some cars were completely submerged under the record-breaking snow. The winter blast brought the heaviest snowfall of the last 60 years, Reuters reported. The cold air was brought in from cool air moving to the area from the Arctic, and is simultaneously affecting Eastern Russia and Asia, while a second wave is affecting Eastern
