Record-breaking heat wave grips western US

A record early heat wave striking the west of the United States on Friday is a one-in-500-years type event and all but certainly the result of human-caused climate change, experts say. The heat has been toppling records this week and was set to continue into the weekend across western cities and expanding eastward. Four spots in the desert area near the California-Arizona state border registered 44.4C (112 Fahrenheit) on Friday, a US national record for March. The locations were near the city of Yuma and at Martinez Lake in Arizona, and in the vicinity of Winterhaven and Ogilby in California.

Iran warns U.S. and Israel nowhere in the world will be safe

WASHINGTON (TNND) — Iranian Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi said that U.S. and Israeli officials wouldn’t be safe following strikes that wiped out Iran’s leadership, including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. “From now on, based on the information we have about you, even parks, recreational areas and tourist destinations anywhere in the world will no longer be safe for you,” Shekarchi said on Iranian state television, according to the Daily Mail. This announcement comes as many college students are going to different tourist locations for spring break. Last month, Israel and the U.S. launched joint drone strikes on Israel over

War Enters Day 22, Intense Escalation Between Iran, US, and Israel

On the 22nd day of the ongoing war between Iran, the United States, and Israel, the conflict has intensified significantly. Iran has launched the 70th wave of its military campaign, “Operation True Promise Four,” targeting US and Israeli positions with a heavy barrage of missiles, drones, and ballistic strikes. Reports indicate continuous and coordinated attacks on multiple strategic locations linked to both countries. Iran has described these strikes as a strong retaliation against earlier attacks carried out by the US and Israel on its territory. The situation remains highly volatile, with loud explosions and aerial assault activity reported overnight across

Some US airports may close soon because of the government shutdown

If your spring break travel plans already felt a little chaotic, here’s something new to worry about: some U.S. airports might actually shut down—at least temporarily—if the current government shutdown drags on much longer. The issue isn’t planes, weather or even the airlines themselves. It’s security.  Right now, roughly 50,000 Transportation Security Administration officers are working without pay after funding for the Department of Homeland Security lapsed in mid-February. They’re considered essential workers, so while they are still required to show up, many simply can’t afford to. Typically, fewer than 2% of TSA workers call out. During the shutdown, that

US Disrupts Aisuru, Botnet Behind Record-Breaking 30Tbps DDoS Attacks

The US says it disrupted the Aisuru botnet, notorious for launching record-breaking DDoS attacks throughout last year in an effort to shut down internet services and websites.  The US partnered with Canada and Germany to crack down on a total of four botnets, including Aisuru and its spin-off botnet Kimwolf, which security researchers suspect belong to the same creators.  Aisuru and Kimwolf work by first infecting vulnerable online devices, enslaving them into a network of hijacked computers. Hackers can then use the army of infected computers to launch DDoS attacks, which involve summoning waves of internet traffic to overwhelm a
