A woman who said she was on the street in Minneapolis facing the front windshield of the car when Good was shot told NBC News that no immigration officers were in front of the car when the shots were fired.
Betsy, who did not want her last name used to protect her family, said she was on the east side of Portland Avenue when she saw the shooting.
“I want to be incredibly clear about this. The officers were not in front of her car the moment this all occurred,” said Betsy, who shared videos of the aftermath of the scene. “She was attempting to move her car away from the cluster of cars and the agents south on Portland Avenue, and the agents who fired the shot were standing next to the vehicle, not at all in front of it.”
Betsy said after the shots, Good’s car headed in her direction, but because everything happened so quickly, it didn’t occur to her to move. The car crashed about 4 feet in front of her, she said. After the car slammed into parked cars, a woman from the other side of the street ran to the driver’s side of the car and threw open the door to check on the driver and told her to call 911, she said.
Betsy said she called, but did not get through. Federal agents then began moving to the vehicle and were holding out their firearms and yelling at people to get back, she said.
“At that moment, I got really scared, and I kind of ran to a yard of a house I was standing in front of to get behind a fence,” she said. “I was really afraid.”
