Will the snowstorm in the US affect Suffolk weather?

The storm in the States brought a record-breaking amount of snow that caused disruption for millions of people living on the East Coast.

More than 600,000 properties endured power outages as thousands of flights were cancelled at major airports like JFK in New York.

However, Suffolk has seen the arrival of spring with temperatures reaching 17C in parts of the county on Wednesday, making it hotter than Milan in Italy.

The summer-like weather is not set to last as the Met Office predicts temperatures will drop back down in the coming days.

A spokesman for the forecaster said: “The low-pressure system that caused all the snow in the north east coast of the US will be moving its way across the Atlantic towards the UK; however, it will move towards Iceland.

“It will bring some wet and windy weather over the next few days but it will not bring any wintry conditions like snow and ice.”

Temperatures are expected to stay above the seasonal average with highs of up to 12C at the weekend.
