Mize went down in the third inning after fielding a ball weirdly. He walked off the field under his own power. Baez looks to have hurt his knee, lower leg, or ankle on a play at first base. He needed the cart to come take him off the field.
Entering play on Tuesday, the Tigers had a 0.5 game lead on the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Central. The Guardians called for reinforcements on Tuesday, calling up their top prospect, Travis Bazzana.
Mize entered play on Tuesday with a 2.51 earned run average through five starts in 2026. Baez entered with a .263 batting average and two home runs.
