CNN issues breaking news alert on US-Iran deal – and it’s bad news for Trump

CNN anchor Omar Jimenez broke into regular programming with breaking news concerning the US-Israeli conflict with Iran.

In a stunning turnaround, the US and Iran have struck a deal to bring the war to a close, with mediator Pakistan confirming the agreement will be officially signed this Friday in Switzerland. Donald Trump announced that the Strait of Hormuz will once again be open, and the US naval blockade of Iran will be lifted.

The deal includes a halt to “military operations” in Lebanon, which has voiced its backing for the agreement. Israel, however, has made clear that its troops will remain in the country for an unspecified period of time. It comes after Vance was haunted by an unearthed clip on ‘dumb presidents’ entangled with Middle East.

Within Iran, the settlement is being celebrated as a victory for Tehran and a defeat for both the US and Israel. While many observers welcomed the end of the conflict, the president faced a significant embarrassment, according to Democratic Congressman Adam Smith, who weighed in on the shocking turn of events.

When Omar asked, “How are you assessing things right now?” the Democratic representative acknowledged that the conclusion of the war with Iran represents a “huge positive,” reports the Irish Star.

However, delivering a scathing rebuke of Trump, Smith added, “I think it’s worth noting, it makes it clear that this war accomplished nothing for the US. It put us right back where we were on February 27, and now in a worse shape when fighting to open the Strait of Hormuz. It really points out the folly of starting this war in the first place, but ending it should be the priority now.”

Smith went on to denounce the war as a “stupid mistake” on Trump’s part. “Iran is a problem. There is no doubt about it,” the congressman stated, “They support terrorist organizations throughout the region. Also, their ballistic missile program. We would love all of that to go away.”

He went on to say, “But we don’t really have a path in making it go away. President [Barack] Obama already said, ‘Iran is a problem. I’d rather have Iran be a problem without a nuclear weapon than be a problem with a nuclear weapon.’ So we cut that deal and Trump stupidly tore it up.”

Smith suggested that Trump is now “limping back” to a comparable deal that Obama had previously proposed and brokered with Iran. He stated, “We have put ourselves in a weaker position and I believe part of it – people talk about Trump Derangement Syndrome. I think Trump had Obama Derangement Syndrome. Whatever Obama was for, he had to be against.”

The Congressman emphasized that the United States now finds itself in a more vulnerable position than when the conflict first erupted.

This comes as Barron Trump, 20, triggered widespread concern after appearing dramatically changed during an unsettling recent public appearance.
