Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer interrupted scheduled programming to deliver breaking news after Iran’s Foreign Minister declared the Strait of Hormuz officially open
Fox News broke away from its regular programming after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that the Strait of Hormuz had officially reopened following the U.S. naval blockade.
“We are just getting this in, so bear with us,” Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer said during the Friday, April 17, broadcast of America’s Newsroom, adding: “The Strait of Hormuz is on the screen for a reason.”
With breaking news banners flashing alongside a map of the Strait of Hormuz, Hemmer continued: “The Iranian Foreign Minister, who seems to be the guy in charge, at least publicly for Iran, just fired this off in a post on X and I am going to read it for you now.” It comes after Trump made a disturbing sex comment on stage that silenced the audience.

The development follows President Trump’s assertion that Iran has agreed to halt its nuclear program indefinitely — news that broke around the same time Fox News host Sean Hannity declared himself to “no longer be a Catholic.”
The Iranian Foreign Minister’s statement read: “In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire.”
The 61-year-old anchor carried on with the report, noting: “So on that news, the stock market is flying through the roof. That opens in 28 minutes, so we will watch that,” reports the Irish Star.
“Now, while this is happening, the US has brokered a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. Apparently, that was one of the conditions which Iran wanted,” the anchor added. “So the President is saying he may host both countries at the White House in hopes of striking a last-minute truce. There’s a lot to go through.”
In a social media statement, President Trump announced the Strait was “completely open and ready for business and full passage.” In a subsequent post, the president declared, “It will no longer be used as a weapon against the World!”
Since fighting initially broke out on February 28, the US-Israel confrontation has claimed the lives of over 3,000 individuals.
Following reports of the Strait of Hormuz reopening, one Reddit user has conducted a thorough examination of Trump’s social media history, highlighting numerous previous posts the president made regarding Iran.
Trump’s posts traced back to 2011 with Trump alleging former President Obama would initiate a war with Iran to secure re-election. Subsequently, posts shared in 2013 echoed the same viewpoint with Trump claiming Obama would strike Iran due to his poor diplomatic abilities.
In 2024, Trump published a post on X, that read: “The United States has spent EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS fighting and policing in the Middle East. Thousands of our Great Soldiers have died or been badly wounded. Millions of pope have died on the other side. GOING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST IS THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE…..”
It comes after Erika Kirk rushed off stage after an awkward embrace with Trump.
