Sky News halts for breaking Trump alert in next devastating blow

The live broadcast was interrupted for an urgent announcement

Sky News paused their live broadcast to issue a Donald Trump announcement. It comes after Keir Starmer insisted in a speech on Thursday, the special relationship is “in operation right now” despite not having spoken to the president since a public fallout over his refusal to allow initial US strikes on Iran from British military bases.

The broadcaster, Jayne Secker, claimed Trump has “stuck the knife in again” with his latest comments about the UK Prime Minister.

Pausing her broadcast, Jayne said: “Let’s just bring you some more news we’re getting out of America – this time about President Trump. He has given more quotes this time to the New York Post and has stuck the knife in again to the UK and Spain.

He has blasted Spain calling them losers and asserted that Keir Starmer should be supporting the US without question. He says, ‘We have a lot of winners but Spain is a loser and the UK has been very disappointing.'”

The broadcaster explained Trump’s quotes came from a phone interview with the publication, reports The Express.

She went on: “Trump said, ‘Spain is very hostile to NATO. Not a team player and we’re not going to be a team player with Spain either.'”

Addressing his previous comments where he branded Starmer a “loser”, she commented: “Trump said, ‘[Starmer] is not Winston Churchill. Let me put it that way,’ repeating a line from earlier this week.

“We know Trump has been frustrated with Starmer for not allowing the US to use British military bases. He said, ‘It was very disappointing. His performance having to do with our tremendous attack on a hostile nation. He should be giving us without question or hesitation things like bases where we can use others.”

She continued: “He was taken back by Starmer’s resistance to work with the Pentagon. He said, ‘We should certainly be able to count on them. I was very surprised at Keir. Very disappointed. I get along with him fine but he sometimes doesn’t do things that he should.'”

The leader of the Labour government said he will launch “one of the biggest operations of its kind” in response to the war in the Middle East as more than 140,000 Brits remain stranded in the region.

Addressing the nation at a press conference in Downing Street on Thursday afternoon (March 5), the Prime Minister said he would deliver “calm, level-headed leadership” to the UK as the conflict in the Middle East widens, “no matter the pressure to do otherwise”.

The Prime Minister also revealed four Typhoon fighter jets will be sent to Qatar to bolster the region’s defences and confirmed the first evacuation flight of British nationals had took off from Muscat, Oman.
