BREAKING: Detroit Tigers Starter Framber Valdez Suspended By MLB

Tigers starter Framber Valdez has been suspended by MLB after his actions against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.

Major League Baseball has handed down a six-game suspension to Detroit Tigers starter Framber Valdez. This comes after Valdez hit Boston Red Sox batter Trevor Story immediately after giving up two home runs.

Valdez could still appeal if he decides to. Because there was an ejection, Tigers manager AJ Hinch will serve his mandatory one-game suspension on Wednesday night.

Following the game on Tuesday, Hinch had some harsh words regarding what happened prior to the benches clearing. Valdez allowed two consecutive home runs, then went too far up and in to Story, who took exception.

Valdez said it was unintentional after the game. However, Hinch said he and the rest of the Tigers didn’t feel his actions matched the Tigers’ brand of baseball they like to play. Hinch never defended Valdez.

This is not the first time Valdez has been seen pitching a fit, so to speak. In September of 2025, after giving up a grand slam, it appears he crosses up his own catcher while playing for the Houston Astros.

Framber Valdez Suspension Puts Detroit Tigers in a Bad Position

Meanwhile, the Tigers now find themselves in a peculiar position. Starters Tarik Skubal, Casey Mize, and Justin Verlander are all on the injured list. Now, with Framber Valdez suspended (with a potential appeal pending), the Tigers will really be behind the eight ball.

The Tigers are currently tied for first place in the American League Central Division with the Cleveland Guardians. All five teams in the division are within 1.5 games of each other. But the Tigers will now be without four of their original five starters.

If things stand, the suspension would only impact one start for Valdez and the Tigers. However, in the position the Tigers are in, they cannot afford any setbacks.
