Day 13 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup brings a close to matchday two. Portugal, England, and Colombia highlight the slate as two of the three can clinch their knockout round spots, while the other is looking for its first win.
Portugal opens the day in Houston with a must-win against Uzbekistan after a tough opening match. England and Ghana follow in Foxborough, with first place in Group L on the line. Then Panama and Croatia meet at BMO Field in a do-or-die for both. Finally, Colombia tries to lock up a knockout spot against the DR Congo side that already held Portugal to a draw.

Group K: Portugal vs Uzbekistan
Time/TV: 1:00 PM ET on Fox at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas
Why watch: Portugal opened the tournament looking like a contender and finished matchday one looking like a mess. The drama surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s place in the team is always intriguing. Can they figure it all out and become the team everyone expects them to be? Meanwhile, Uzbekistan looked a capable side against Colombia before faltering late. Can they pull off the upset and see Portugal into a full-on tailspin?
Why it could disappoint: Uzbekistan spent all week watching DR Congo’s blueprint. Sit deep, stay compact, frustrate, take what’s on the counter. Fabio Cannavaro built an illustrious career on knowing exactly how to do that. If Portugal can’t find a way through quickly, this can become 90 minutes of one team passing around a defensive wall again.
Group L: England vs Ghana
Time/TV: 4:00 PM ET on Fox at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts
Why watch: A win here books a place in the round of 32 and almost certainly first in Group L. England’s attack looked sensational against Croatia. The Three Lions are must-watch when in that kind of form. Can Ghana pose any problems for them or will Harry Kane continue his amazing scoring run?
Why it could disappoint: Unlike Croatia, who clearly thought they could go toe-to-toe with England, Ghana won’t hesitate to sit back and stay compact. How England is able to deal with that kind of strategy will dictate how entertaining this match can be. The sooner they unlock it, the more of a chance we have of seeing the game open up.
Watch the 2026 World Cup with FuboGroup L: Panama vs Croatia
Time/TV: 7:00 PM ET on Fox at BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario
Why watch: Croatia are no stranger to opening World Cups slowly before getting on track. If they are going to repeat that formula, the turnaround must begin now. They’ll know that anything less than three points would be devastating. Expect them to come out flying from the opening whistle.
Why it could disappoint: Panama’s match with Ghana was arguably the most boring of matchday one. What happens when they play a better team with even more quality on the ball? If Croatia show up, it could be a very one-sided match that offers little in the way of intrigue.
Group K: Colombia vs DR Congo
Time/TV: 10:00 PM ET on FS1 at Estadio Akron in Zapopan, Jalisco
Why watch: DR Congo are coming off one of the most impressive defensive performances of all-time, holding Portugal to a 1-1 draw after conceding in the sixth minute. Can they continue to frustrate the opposition with their effective low block? Colombia started to hit full stride late in their opening match. Figuring out which side’s momentum will carry on should be pretty interesting.
Why it could disappoint: While Portgual became very predictable, Colombia is anything but. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that they get a couple of early goals and put this one to bed very quickly. If DR Congo are forced to come out of their shell, this one could get ugly.
